Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.
 
Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.
 
Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!
 
Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.
 
Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.
 
Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

Original equipment quality: optimum adjustment to the vehicle
Tyres with a special OEM marking on the sidewall, e.g. "MO" for Mercedes-Benz, were developed in cooperation with a specific car manufacturer and the tyre industry. These tyres have been homologated by the vehicle manufacturer and are a perfect match for a specific model. They have been specially designed to highlight or further improve the performance characteristics of the car in question, thus representing the culmination of a state-of-the-art fine-tuning process that perfectly complements the latest technological developments in the automotive industry. Tyres with manufacturer's markings can of course also be used on other vehicles.

Great tyres , good all round grip, as I live in Scotland the seasons change every 5mins, with plenty of rain & the odd bit of snow , I do some off road driving and never got the car stuck, I do run this type of tyre all year round , but as the car is quite light I always change my tyres when they get down to 3mm , I think this is far safer ,

The tyres perform unbelievably well. Braking and grip in the wet is just phenomenal. Outstanding performance. Superb and consistent grip in heavy persistent rain along French motorway to the UK, long and short journeys.

I went for the BMW approved (star marked) Blizzak and I’m very happy with the tyres. I’ve had Conti Winter Contact on previous cars and in regular use I would say the Blizzak is very comparable. The car retains decent steering feel and traction on wet and dry roads plus offers a far greater level of grip on snow/slush over a regular tyre. Ride comfort seems pretty much unchanged, as always with winters there is a little more noise but it’s slight and after 5 minutes you don’t notice! Fuel consumption does increase very slightly over the summer tyres BUT that could be down to the cold weather as much as the tyres!

I bought these so that I wouldn't have any mishaps during the winter in my beloved car. I was worried that it would be a nightmare to drive in the snow due to being rear wheel drive and its power. I put these tyres on the front and different winter tyres on the rear and never had any problems at all - very surprised and impressed!

Tyres are fine apart from one problem, the rears on a motorway are just really noisy at speed when they get down to around 4mm of tread, so much so that I thought it was a wheel bearing issue, and checked them out, they appeared to be OK, when I fitted new rear tyres the noise disappeared

The new tyres improved the grip both in wet and dry conditions, which was noticeable immediately. There was also some marginal improvement in fuel consumption. There was no test on snow.

These tyres are outstanding. The car is a 25th Anniversary GTI with a ported and polished cylinder head and fitted with SACHS Race Engineering coilovers. I require tyres with the highest possible grip, in both wet and dry conditions. For this reason I only fit AUDI AO specification tyres as this specification was developed for the maximum grip on the high performance fwd Audi TT. Which uses the same platform as the MkIV Golf.

These are as close to perfect summer tyres that I have come across in more than 50+ years of spirited driving. Wet grip is of great importance, and these tyres are actually AO, which I always purchase, as I understand that grip was paramount in AUDIs requirements. The car is a modified 25th Anniversary model and is fitted with SACHS Race Engineering Coil-Over suspension. The cylinder head has been ported and polished with the motor now producing well over 200 ps.

Car had 20" 245/35r20 runflats in front and 275/30r20 runflats (all MOE) for RWD w213 luxury saloon. The car came with these factory fitted MOE runflat tyres. I've Replaced these tyres and wheels at 10600km. I've driven 8600km of that mileage. The tyres wore like rubber bands on the 20" wheels. Steering as a result is very precise in both wet and dry. Front 245/30s have sound deadening foam and overall tyre noise is quiet in the cabin (but just wee bit louder than the 18" PS4 tyres I replaced them with). Ride comfort is 8/10 on highways due to air suspension. On chip seal, speed humps, potholed roads ride comfort is 5/10 - there is very abrupt jarring transmitted to cabin due to tyre profile and rims. Wet grip in cold (5'C) and damp country highways was 7/10 at 110km/h speeds - there was some slip noticeable. Dry grip was 8/10 most of the time but with occasional rear traction slips at highway speeds in curves. This combination of tyres and rims is quite poor for a luxury sedan and compliant rides.

Tyres perform really well in all conditions but I scuffed 2 of them on the kerb part of the tyre wall just peeled off and left a gap 4cm wide and about 5 cm deep the rim of the tyre seems too soft this part of the tyre provides little or no protection for the alloy wheel . Dissatisfied with this aspect of the tyre. And these are not cheap tyres!

Since putting these tyres on my SUV ive noticed its handles its self extremely well in the corners at speed . Road noise is a lot less quiter than my previous tyre "Nexen Roadian" Only thing ive marked it down for is in the snow as i have not driven in any snow at all no snow this year . I would definitely buy these tyres again .

I've Replaced these tyres and wheels at 10600km. I've driven 8600km of that mileage. The tyres wore like rubber bands on the 20" wheels. Steering as a result is very precise in both wet and dry. Front 245/30s have sound deadening foam and overall tyre noise is quiet in the cabin (but just wee bit louder than the 18" PS4 tyres I replaced them with). Ride comfort is 8/10 on highways due to air suspension. On chip seal, speed humps, potholed roads ride comfort is 5/10 - there is very abrupt jarring transmitted to cabin due to tyre profile and rims. Wet grip in cold (5'C) and damp country highways was 7/10 at 110km/h speeds - there was some slip noticeable. Dry grip was 8/10 most of the time but with occasional rear traction slips at highway speeds in curves. This combination of tyres and rims is quite poor for a luxury sedan and compliant rides.

So much more secure in all adverse driving conditions heavy rain slush and packed snow in north of Scotland. Superior in all aspects compared with OE tyre but must always have steering assistance with these new minis disabled

Original fitment on the Panda 4x4 and replaced with a new set. The only winter tyre readily available that is not directional so does not sacrifice forward and uphill traction for braking ability and ability to reverse out of trouble. A serious winter tyre for mobility in the worst conditions as opposed to speeding round in the cold and wet. Perfect for this car and our use and would not fit anything else at present.

Probably the WORST tires I ever had in any of my cars. From 4X4 (Japanese, Americans, British and the Military Portuguese UMM) to 3.5T Pick-Ups (from the company I run) or sportive ones (Porsche, Mazda, BMW). Expensive tires, they were DANGEROUS since the beginning with Aquaplane, Ice and Snow. A Nightmare in MUD! Besides noisy and, after 10.000 Kms they already were with half of the drawing. NEVER AGAIN! Michelin or Bridgestone. Not BFGoodrich just because they get dead quite fast too. And they are now expensive (more than the other two brands) without explanation. A last detail, my driving it's Scandinavian style: calm, secure and saving mechanic and fuel.

Excellent grip on black iced roads during the winter period. Also very good grip on wet greasy roads after both light and heavy rain. Always feel in control. An excellent tyre and so far the wear is negligible.

Because of the damp and at times colder weather in Scotland I prefer to use al season tyres all year round - and on my previous cars my preference was for Continental all weather of winters. Could not buy Continental's in sizes I require for my BMW 640d so chose these Vredestein Quatrac Pro after considerable research - and have not been disappointed. These are excellent tyres, grip the road well in al conditions (but no snow here yet) and are much more comfortable and quiet that previous Pirelli Z run flats - indeed so much so that a friend to whom I gave a lift recently asked it my car was electric it was so quiet. In summary - great tyres in all conditions, and it will be interesting to see what tyre wear it like over the coming years.
