Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.
 
Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.
 
Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!
 
Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.
 
Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.
 
Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

Original equipment quality: optimum adjustment to the vehicle
Tyres with a special OEM marking on the sidewall, e.g. "MO" for Mercedes-Benz, were developed in cooperation with a specific car manufacturer and the tyre industry. These tyres have been homologated by the vehicle manufacturer and are a perfect match for a specific model. They have been specially designed to highlight or further improve the performance characteristics of the car in question, thus representing the culmination of a state-of-the-art fine-tuning process that perfectly complements the latest technological developments in the automotive industry. These tyres were absolutely poor on my BMW. The car felt like alignment was off and the car had no stability, going above 60mph was a very scary experience. I removed them and put back my old continentals with 1mm tread and tested because people claimed my alignment was off, but no, it was these tyres they are terrible - nankang ns20. I removed and sold and bought a pair of pirelli p zero

Fitted to a 140bhp front whee drive car. Taking into account these are a budget tyre, grip in the dry is good and spirited driving can be accommodated safely. Tyre in the wet is good but no tyre is safe on the limit in the wet. Because of my low mileage I cannot comment on the rate of wear but must be realistic, after all it is a budget product.

I was sceptical about the quality of these Nankang tyres, when I bought them I was influenced by the price, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the grip level both in the dry and wet. I like to drive quickly but not dangerously and I have felt when the tyres have been close to their limit, which is a big plus point. My only complaint would be they do tend to follow tracks in the road, but they are quite wide.

Felt a little skittish when first fitted especially when applying the power through a roundabout. This was much more pronounced in the wet but never felt dangerous. Settled down after the first 500 miles and behaved slightly better. Felt surefooted and I generally never gave them too hard a time. Grips and brakes fine and more surefooted than summer tyres as the temperature drops. Would consider them again if / when buying to replace on this car or for another.

Ive noticied the grip limit is found much quicker than on normal tyres , driving briskly in dry weather on country roads the grip level soon levels off quite a lot quicker than with normal tyres , on wet or icey/snowy ground its a different kettle of fish , inspire confidence driving . Tyre wear is negliable , although i was intending to swap these around during summer , i'll run these year round .There has been a marked decline in mpg figures , perhaps 3-4 , probably due to the softer compound and extra sips

These tyres in my rear wheel drive BMW are grippy in the dry, but leave me yearning for more in the wet. The car will "step-out" if I punch it whilst the road is even midly damp. Amazing tyres, grip is excellent, comfort and noise are excellent. the only thing i can fault is that the wear isn't anything special. Down to 4mm after 6000 miles. My tyre size is 245/35R18 but tyretest will not let me add the correct size above.

Excellent tyres chosen via the reviews by Jon @ tyrereviews.co.uk - they faired very well against the likes of the Michelin PS5s and at the time of buying (Feb2023) the Goodyears were £250 cheaper than the PS5s; but more or less neck & neck with them in the tyre review! That swung the decision for me, more so with the money saving!

Car Driven : BMW 425D 225Hp . Quite quietly from the start until the first 10,000 km they kept a relatively low noise level until the end of their lives. Relatively comfortable especially considering that is a runflat tire. The tire tread still retains its original groove and design but has significant wear points on both edge and there are some small tire detachments. In the few rains we have in Greece it never had a hadling problem or breaking and did not create any feeling of insecurity. in short it is a good quiet tire ROF tire, comfortable and efficient in fast driving.

Fabulous tyres and exceptional wear, considering the price point of these, especially given my driving style. I'll definitely see over 20000 miles on these tyres which I find remarkable on a heavy car with over 400hp. Could I have better grip, sure for twice the price. Do you really need it, even for having fun on UK roads, no! They are soft rubber though, so you'll know if your alignment is out, these didn't last long on my Merc V Class!

Doing relatively high mileage of over 40k every year, I've been through various different premium tyres over the years. Let me tell you, in the 5k miles on these tyres so far I'd say they're pound for pound up there with premium tyres for everyday driving. I've found them to be really good in the wet, no major drama with aquaplaning and my heavy right foot has encountered no issues in cornering. Strangely, I've found that I'm more confident with these in the wet than dry- they tend to be slightly unpredictable when pushing on. Not a massive issue by any means and shouldn't put anybody off, it's just highlighted by my spirited driving style! Wear seems to be decent so far, but as I said I've only done 5k so far so too early to tell. All in all, great value for money and worth a try. On 20's, The Goodyear Eagle F1s that I had on previously were £160 each, whereas I got these for £115. 200 quid saved, and genuinely no worse performance. Well done Viking!

Just a brilliant all round tyre for the price point, been using them on my VW and parents cars for a good few years, mileage out them is not great if you drive on the limit all the time, but they inspire that as they grip very will in the dry and the wet, as per usual Cooper tyres have always been good on british roast with typical british weather - Also part of the Avon tyre lot, associated Chinese brands are Superia, Austone, Fortune etc, if it's B or A rated for wet you can almost guarantee it to be the case these days.

When I purchased my vehicle (preowned) it came with Nexen tyres on all four corners. I had to change the two front tyres after a few years and choose Goodyears. Last year I had to change the front tyres again because the Goodyears had worn considerably, whilst still having the same Nexens on the rear of the car since I purchased it. Hence stick with the Nexens. When I need to change the rear tyres I will definitely choose Nexens.

Reading the tyre product sizing information is quintessential if you want to equip your vehicle with top-of-the-line 225/45 R17 season tyres for winter or summer. On that note, a tyre's description indicates its width, the ratio between width and flank height, and rim diameter. Width, expressed in millimetres, is represented by the first number in the 225/45 R17 description. Flank height is equal to 45% of width, as indicated by the second number. Thus, flank height is 225 mm * 0,45 = 101,25 mm. The letter R specifies the radial constructive type, and it is followed by the inner diameter indicator, expressed in inches.
