Winter tyres - for a save driving on snow and ice.
The "M + S" (or M & S, MS) marking can currently be found on winter and all season tyres. Besides this marking, a snowflake symbol can be found on some models. The M + S tyres that have the snowflake symbol meet the higher quality standards. Since 2011, winter tyres are mandatory in Ireland. Having a special blend of rubber that resists to low temperatures, these tyres are more adapted to winter conditions than the summer tyres. Therefore, the car will have a good grip even dealing with low temperatures. The optimised profile reduces the risk of hydroplaning and provides a good grip in snowy and icy conditions. The exact size of a tyre can be found on its sidewall.
The following chart shows you how to read a tyre size.
1. Overall tire width in mm
2. Ratio of tire height to tire width in%
3. Tire design: ''R'' = radial tires (widely used), ''D'' or ''-'' = diagonal tires (rare)
4. Required rim diameter for this tire in inches
5. Key figure for tire load capacity
6. Key figure for the permissible maximum speed (speed index)
7. Motorcycle tire identification, tires only approved for motorcycles
8. DOT labeling
9. Date of manufacture of the tire (week of production / year of production)

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.

Very good milege 16k km regional roads, country trails soft offroad, very good for dualsport, noisy when cornering. Grip is good, when it goes does not slip all the way. The front tyre could have a little more braking power on pawed road and back tyre could have softer compound on sides.

This tyre last better than a TKC80 and in anything other than mud, are as good gripwise, at least on the rear! Wear suffers, even on a lightweight, with a laden bike in hotter conditions I found.

Bought these tyres on a whim, did a little research beforehand and these tyres appeared to have the right combination of profile and tread design for my riding style, and they also look cool as a bonus i commute every day from kent to and from central london (approx 13000 miles per year) so i have quite a wide variety of roads and traffic conditions to deal with from small back roads, semi-rural roads, dual carriageways, and stop start spaghetti roads in the city, i ride all-year round in all weather conditions including in snow and ice the tyres are chunky, nice tread with plenty of lugs, as a result handling on loose gravel and even wet grass feels very planted which is great compared to my stock CST tyres, these are absolutely amazing especially the wet performance, confidence in all situations including riding on white lines, emergency stops, and evasive maneuvers in unfavourable conditions was excellent, and they do indeed grip extremely well in snow and ice during hot summer conditions the tyre becomes extremely sticky and grippy, and in some rare cases can make handling feel slightly squirmy, wear is increased as well as fuel consumption, but they have survived winter and summer and the performance has not degraded much at all despite a bit of additional wear would not recommend this particular version for sports bikes or tourers (theres a version tailored to those) but scramblers, classics, commuters, scooters etc they are great

These are the first Heidenau tyres for me, would definitely recommend them. I haven't used them off road but the tread pattern is good so I'm certain they would be fine for me. On the road they grip well (better with a few km on them) on roundabouts, rough surfaces and just perform well in general inspiring confidence. I bought them because I could get a matched tubed pair in the wheel sizes for my bike, but would choose them again when I need replacements anyway. I have a 130/18 on the rear as well as this one on the front. Good value and recommended.

An outstanding 50/50 tyre for my CRF250 Rally. Excellent performance on roads, very good on Gravel tracks but for heavy mud you'll need something more aggressive. Really good life, excellent stability and grip.
