Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.
 
Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.
 
Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!
 
Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.
 
Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.
 
Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

Considering that these tyres are winter tyres they are remarkably quiet. My last winter tyres lasted about 6 years so, too soon to tell if these compare but they seems fine so far.

Having driven around fields and private roads from age 11, I passed my test at 17 yrs and 4 months. I have driven on 4 continents, raced and rallied for 20 years in the UK and towed a caravan for 35 years. I am now aged 79 yrs and only travel about 6000 miles per year. I choose Uniroyal for it's wet grip versus price, as a form of security against being caught out at my age!

Just set the new tyres like three days ago and today a rain has come, a light rain. I had troubles stopping from speed of 70km/h in a kilometer long hill going down around 15 degrees. The temperature was around 10 degrees Celsium

These tyres won Autoexpress winter testing award and it's easy to see why, I've driven in deep snow with no loss of grip or skidding. I hate snow but these have given me a new level of confidence. I've never failed to get to work or home. The only problem I have had is other road users blocking roads with summer tyres or low profile tyres on. Yes they cost more but they are worth it. I have tried other brands but find these the best. I buy two each year which I put on the front and the older ones in the back, with no loss of traction.

Firstly, I cannot comment on what they are like in snow as where I live in the UK had one snowy day this winter. I look on winter tyres as like insurance: I pay for them but hope I never have to use them much. They did absolutely fine in the wet and sub-zero conditions which I did encounter and I felt safe having the right tyres for the conditions. This is not my first set of Contis and won't be my last.

These tyres are the dogs. No snow or ice this year to leave feedback. After 6 months driving over the winter months, and 3600 km's, the wear was only 1mm on the back, and 1/2 mm on the front. Truly outstanding. I won't need to change these tyres for years. Well done Continental.

Great grip. No problems driving in snow & ice, even going up hills. Felt like driving in normal road conditions. Previous winter, before I changed to winter tyres, car had no grip whatsoever, couldn't even manage a slight incline. Continental winter tyres are amazing, money well spent!

Fitted to the vehicle already when purchased.. They are an adequate budget tyre for perhaps city driving however they are poor in the wet. Lack any feedback in more active driving and in the wet have poor grip and braking performance with significant understeer in even damp conditions with even slightly 'active' driving. I've removed them off the car half worn and replaced with a premium brand as I'm not comfortable with their performance on mainly wet UK roads.

I bought these tires as a cheaper alternative to a Continental tire, because the grip in wet conditions was rated excellent. That seems to be true. This type of tire is designed for lower rolling resistance and increased fuel economy - often that comes with lower wet grip. Not in this case.

This is a SNOW tire I don't plan on doing track days with it.. NO it is not as good as my Summer tires in the Dry or Wet it is not made for this it's a SNOW tire give it some slush, Snow, Mild Ice and they are Great. Yup they make some noise thats expected. The trade off I think is fair though they have put a pretty good dent in my fuel milage guess that is the price you have to pay for safety.

To be honest I have not had a chance to use these tyres because mytyres.co.uk took about two months to delver them to my home in the UK so I had to buy some other tyres from my local garage for my MOT. The tyres look fine to me but they are still sat in their packaging unused. mytyres.co.uk however wasted my time and money with multiple phone calls to couriers, their office, and a lot of misinformation and incorrect details from them about what was going on, so I won't be using them again. I was actually shocked at how bad their service was.
