Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.
 
Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.
 
Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!
 
Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.
 
Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.
 
Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

My style of driving consist of response driving to towing a caravan and leisure driving so I do quite a wide variety. I use winter tyres all year round they are better on wet surfaces don't last as long but give you more confidence in cornering, braking and when you encounter deep puddles. Has we do in the country with all the pot holes my wife used them all year to. In winter i do carry snow chains but have not used them.

Had these on for 17000km of very hard driving - fast highway - then down to muddy country lanes - towing boats regularly. the best tyre i have fitted to the car in 11years of ownership. Very hard wearing - dry handling is superb - wet also very good - seem ok in snow but not as good in wet slush compared to a full winter . Good in mud and rough trails. As an all rounder i have yet to find better. Only negative is a bit noisier on smooth surfaces at low speeds(50-60kmh) - Definitely fitting again - worth the extra money as they last so long...

I bought these as they rated well performing across the board. Not top in anything but above everything that was top in at least one area. The wet grip and braking is fantastic. Performed well throughout the cold months but we had no snow this year to test them. On warm dry roads the compound or pattern does not allow for an aggressive driving style but I never intended to keep them on in the summer so this was irrelevant to me. They make a noise like driving through standing water in the wet which is strange at first but I wouldn't say generally they were any noisier than my Eagle asymmetric 2 that they replaced. Did everything I expected from them and will be re fitting them come the winter.

These tyres were original equipment fitted by Land rover, for the nine year's i have owned the vehicle,I have used this model of tyre. They have never let us down and perform well in snow, rain or sun shine. The only down side being the cost.

I drive in all weather conditions over a variety of road types from motorway to off road. Tyre slips sometimes even in the dry, little grip in the wet, snow and ice... Don't even bother driving. In my opinion these tyres are not fit for purpose and are potentially dangerous in anything but warm and dry conditions

We have had winter tyres fitted to our main family car for the last 8 years and are total converts to their benefits. This was the first year I have worked as a chauffeur and didn't hesitate to have them fitted. All Mercedes vehicles wear tyres out in certain areas before the whole tyre is ready for replacement, due to their steering geometry settings. The winter tyres have outlasted the 'summer' tyres in this aspect and are still fitted to the vehicle despite temperatures now remaining above the optimum seven degrees. I totally recommend these tyres and will have them fitted next winter.

That aside, these tyres give extra confidence on snow and cold wet roads, but once the temperature starts to increase in Spring, there is the usual drop off of performance - as expected. Just switched back to Summer tyres after the second season with these Goodyears, and still 7 to 8mm tread depth left - more than you get with some NEW tyres.
